From listing to cast narrator
What happens after you post: the whole journey, plainly.
Posting a book is an act of trust, so here's exactly what you're signing up for: five steps, one human review, and no surprises. Most authors go from submitted listing to hearing their first auditions within the week.
1. You post your book
The listing form asks for what narrators need to decide: the book's basics, a description, your deal structure, deadlines, and an audition passage (usually 500–800 words of representative material). If you've read the prep guide, this takes one sitting, and you can save a draft and finish later. Undecided between deal structures? Run the numbers first.
2. A human reviews it
Every listing is checked by a person before it publishes. That's why the catalog stays worth a narrator's time, and why narrators take Auditiono listings seriously. We aim to respond within one to three business days. Approved listings publish at their own address (auditiono.com/listing/your-book) and appear in the public browse.
3. Auditions arrive
Narrators read your pages, the audition passage you chose, and each audition lands in your dashboard with everything you need to decide: the recording, the narrator's name and profile, a brief cover note, their rate quote, and their estimated delivery date. You don't have to wait, either: you can browse the narrators and invite specific voices to audition by name.
4. You shortlist, you compare, you choose
Shortlist the auditions that feel right with one click; pass on the others (with an optional note; narrators appreciate it). Listen for character, pacing, and the writer's intent, not just a pleasant tone. There's no deadline pressure from us and no ranking algorithm nudging you. Your ear decides.
Not the only ear on this book? Use Share these auditions to send a co-author, publisher, or agent a private, read-only link. They don't need an Auditiono account; they confirm their email, then get a listen-only page of the narrators, roles, and audio, with no rate details and no way to change your casting. Show them everything or just your shortlist, narrow it to one role if the book is dual, duet, or multi-cast, and revoke the link whenever you're done. The choice stays yours; this just makes it easy to get a second opinion first.
5. One click casts your narrator
Select this narrator does the rest: both of you receive a handoff packet by email with everything agreed on the listing (deal structure, dates, contact details), the listing closes, and the other auditioners are declined with a courteous note from us, not silence. From there the production is yours and your narrator's: you work together directly, on your terms, and we get out of the way.
