About Auditiono

Auditiono is an audiobook casting platform built by Royal Wave Media, an independent studio that makes software for working audiobook people.

Why this exists

The audiobook industry has shifted under the feet of the people who make audiobooks. Royalty rates on legacy distribution dropped this year; older catalogue earnings have been recut; the casting platforms that dominated the last decade were built around economics that no longer hold for indie production. Working narrators and self-publishing authors are recalibrating in public, and the tooling around them needs to keep up.

Auditiono is one piece of that picture. A casting surface that takes nothing off the top, makes the deal structure visible before anyone records a single line, and trusts the two sides to handle the working relationship after the match. It exists because we couldn't find an option in this shape and we wanted one.

Posture

A few things we do, and a few we explicitly don't.

We don't take a commission. Auditiono is free to use for narrators and authors. There's no monthly fee, no per-listing charge, no slice of the deal you close. Royal Wave Media's revenue comes from its other products, like Royaltally (our royalty-tracking software) and a small catalogue of audiobook contract templates, not from sitting between you and the person you're working with.

We hand off and step out. When an author casts a narrator, both sides receive each other's contact details by email and the deal moves off-platform. We don't relay messages, we don't escrow payments, we don't intermediate the contract. A casting platform is one job; doing it well means not pretending to be a payments company or a contracts service while we're at it.

We're explicit about what we are and aren't. Auditiono is for casting. It's not a contracts service (we point at templates), not a payment processor (we never see the money), not a production studio (you record your own audio), not a distribution platform (you upload to your platform of choice). The narrowness is deliberate. Every product that tried to do all five well in one bundle ended up doing none of them well.

We verify narrators by hand. Every narrator profile is reviewed by a human before it's publicly visible. Verification is the trust signal that lets authors evaluate auditions on the work, not on whether the profile is real. Authors go through a much lighter pass on their listings before going public — we're filtering for spam and obvious scope problems, not gatekeeping who can post.

Royal Wave Media

Royal Wave Media, Inc. is a small independent studio and publishing label. We currently operate three products in or around audiobook production:

Each product can be used independently. None of them require any of the others. Where two products genuinely help each other, we'll point that out. Otherwise we leave it alone.
